The molecular structure of Jacobsen epoxidation catalyst N,N'-di(3-t-b
utyl-5-methyl salicylidene)cyclohexanediamine manganese(III)chloride M
eCN 1 is determined by single crystal X-ray and UV-Vis analysis. The e
poxidation of dihydronaphthalene and dimethylchromene with amorphous a
nd crystalline catalyst gave comparable enantiomeric excesses of 69 %
and 92 % respectively.
