J. Smak, ECLIPSES IN CATACLYSMIC VARIABLES WITH STATIONARY ACCRETION DISKS .3.PECULIAR LIGHT CURVES OF UX UMA, Acta Astronomica, 44(3), 1994, pp. 257-263
The moderately peculiar light curves of UX UMa, showing an ill defined
orbital hump of a small amplitude are analyzed by assuming a simple f
ormula for the phase dependence of the absorption produced by ''circum
disk'' material. The reconstructed spot light curves are well defined,
including the shape of the hump, the ingress part of the eclipse, and
the flat part during its totality. Consequently, the ingress phases n
ot-equal1 and not-equal2 and the resulting disk light curves, although
not as reliable as in the case of standard light curves, can be used
in the eclipse analysis. The egress, however, is rather poorly defined
. This is likely a consequence of an excess absorption due to an obliq
ue viewing of the spot at those phases. Similar analysis performed for
the standard light curves shows that in their case the absorption eff
ects are absent.
