The entire distribution is computed of the conductance of a quantum do
t connected to two electron reservoirs by leads with a single propagat
ing mode, for arbitrary transmission probability Gamma of the mode. Th
e theory bridges the gap between previous work on ballistic leads (Gam
ma=1) and on tunneling point contacts (Gamma much less than 1).
