POWDER PROCESSING IN THE INSTITUTE-OF-TECHNICAL-SCIENCES, BELGRADE

Synthesis of advanced materials by powder processing has been the focu s of intensive study in the institute of Technical Sciences of the Ser bian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Belgrade, Yugoslavia for many years . Atomization of metal melts, solutions, and suspensions, combustion s ynthesis and mechanochemical treatment are used far the preparation of metal, ceramic and composite powders. Conventional sintering, pressur e sintering, including cold and hot shock compaction, are studied from the standpoint of process mechanisms and the synthesis of high techno logy materials. There is interest in the institute to establish additi onal joint research and development projects, and to extend these powd er processing technologies to a wider range of materials and applicati ons.
