J. Jauhiainen et al., A METHOD TO DETERMINE A TRANSMISSION CORRECTION FOR ELECTRON SPECTROMETERS USING SYNCHROTRON-RADIATION, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 69(3), 1994, pp. 181-187
The transmission function of a hemispherical electron spectrometer, th
e SES-144 (Osborne et al., Synchrotron Radiat. News, 7 (1) (1994) 25),
has been determined for pass energies of 10, 20 and 50 eV in the kine
tic energy range 7-60 eV. The method is based on the measurement of th
e intensity ratio between photoelectron lines with varying kinetic ene
rgies and the corresponding constant kinetic energy Auger lines using
different photon energies of synchrotron radiation. With the aid of th
e obtained transmission curves, the ''standard'' Auger line intensitie
s of the Xe N4,5OO Auger spectrum have been determined. Using these in
tensities as reference values, the transmission curves of other electr
on spectrometers can conveniently be found.
