Nw. Eilerts et al., A TORSIONALLY CONSTRAINED DIOLATE LIGAND - NOVEL COMPLEXES OF OCTAHYDROBINAPHTHOL WITH TITANIUM(IV), Inorganic chemistry, 33(22), 1994, pp. 4813-4814
The torsional restrictions imposed on the C-2-symmetric diolate ligand
HYDBINOH2 (5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octahydrobinaphthol) force it to adopt
an exclusively bridging binding mode, an unusual situation in diolate
chemistry. Two novel compounds based on this ligand have been structu
rally characterized: [Ti(HYDBINO)Cl-2](2) (1), a 14-membered metallacy
cle, and [Ti(HYDBINO)(2)- (O-i-Pr)(8)O-2] (2), a tetratitanium bis(mu(
3)-oxo) cluster.
