R. Forehand et al., INTERPARENTAL CONFLICT AND PARENTAL DIVORCE - THE INDIVIDUAL, RELATIVE, AND INTERACTIVE EFFECTS ON ADOLESCENTS ACROSS 4 YEARS, Family relations, 43(4), 1994, pp. 387-393
This study examined the individual, relative, and interactive influenc
es of parental divorce and interparental conflict on adolescent functi
oning across 4 years. Participants were 227 young adolescents, their m
others, and their social studies teachers. Parental divorce, current i
nterparental conflict, and the interaction of the two variables predic
ted multiple areas of functioning in multiple years. Although divorce
is associated with adolescent functioning, the current level of interp
arental conflict cannot be ignored.
