Cu. Pittman et al., WOOD ENHANCEMENT TREATMENTS .1. IMPREGNATION OF SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE WITH MELAMINE-FORMALDEHYDE AND MELAMINE-AMMELINE-FORMALDEHYDE RESINS, Journal of wood chemistry and technology, 14(4), 1994, pp. 577-603
Southern yellow pine (SYP) was impregnated with melamine-formaldehyde
(MF) or melamine-ammeline-formaldehyde (MAF) resins. The dimensional s
tability, strength properties, weathering, fire resistance and chemica
l resistance of the impregnated wood were examined. The wood treated w
ith two commercial MF resins or with a synthesized MAF resin exhibited
greatly enhanced dimensional stability, fire resistance and resistanc
e to weathering. The chemical resistance increased moderately.
