Ra. Wharton, NEW GENERA, SPECIES, AND RECORDS OF NEW-WORLD ALYSIINAE (HYMENOPTERA,BRACONIDAE), Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington, 96(4), 1994, pp. 630-664
Three Palaearctic genera of the Alysiinae (Apronopa Achterberg, Epimic
ta Foerster, and Laotris Nixon) are recorded from North America for th
e first time. New species which expand the definition of their respect
ive genera are described in Aphaereta Foerster, Epimicta, Phaenocarpa
Foerster, and Pneumosema Fischer. The placement of several New World s
pecies in Asobara Foerster, Aspilota Foerster, and Synelix Foerster is
discussed. Sarops Nixon, 1942 is synonymized with Coelinius Nees, 181
2 and Trisynaldis Fischer, 1958 is synonymized with Aphaereta Foerster
, 1862. Two genera from South America and nine species from the New Wo
rld are described as new: Epimicta griffithsi, Aphaereta confusa, Daps
ildiastema, D. angusta, D. crassa, Phaenocarpa anomala, P. cratomorpha
, P. sharkeyi, Pneumosema perditum, Vachterbergia, and V. grayi. Speci
es groups are described for one assemblage in Aphaereta and two in Pha
enocarpa. These species groups are described to facilitate resolution
of problems regarding the monophyly of Aphaereta and Phaenocarpa.
