Texture studies have been carried out on a Mg-2Zn-1Mn alloy plates as
a part of the development of the fabrication process. The plates were
hot rolled from cast ingots subjected to hammer forging. X-ray diffrac
tion tehnique has been employed for texture determination using three
specimens: normal direction (ND), rolling direction (RD) and transvers
e direction (TD) from each plate. The textures have been characterised
by inverse pole figures, direct pole figures and crystallite orientat
ion distribution functions. The maximum basal (0002) pole intensity ha
s been found to appear along ND of the plates. Basal slip is the domin
ant mode of deformation in the material.
