Abstract
The history of tuberculosis control by vaccination with Bacille Calmet
te-Guerin (BCG) is reviewed. Use of the vaccine is evaluated in the li
ght of conflicting results from trials of BCG efficacy. Explanations a
re suggested for the variations between trials, and the continued use
of BCG as a vaccine against tuberculosis is discussed.
