Abstract
As a seed germination inhibitor, capillen (1-phenyl-2,4-hexadiyne) was isolated from the roots of Artemisia capillaris. On pulp filter paper containing capillen [8 x 10(-6) mel, 1.23 mg cm(-2)], it completely i nhibited the germination of seeds of millet, cabbage, pansy and carrot , weakly inhibited that of garland chrysanthemum, but did not inhibit germination of alfalfa.
