Abstract
A new gymnomitrane-type sesquiterpenoid, (-)-gymnomitr-8(12)-en-9 beta -ol, was isolated from the liverwort Marsupella aquatica together with the previously known marsupellone, acetoxymarsupellone, marsupellol a nd beta-ylangen-4 alpha-ol and their structures determined by extensiv e NMR techniques and chemical transformation. The absolute structure o f (+)-eremophila-9,11-dien-8 alpha-ol was established by the CD spectr um.
