Is. Curtis et al., GENOTYPE-INDEPENDENT TRANSFORMATION OF LETTUCE USING AGROBACTERIUM-TUMEFACIENS, Journal of Experimental Botany, 45(279), 1994, pp. 1441-1449
The genetic manipulation of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) necessitates a re
liable and efficient, genotype-independent method of transformation. T
hirteen lettuce cultivars have been assessed for their amenability to
Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer linked to their tissue culture re
sponsiveness, including callus induction and shoot regeneration. A rel
iable protocol has been developed for the routine production of transg
enic plants for all 13 cultivars investigated.
