Jw. Avery et al., USE OF CERALURE AND TRIMEDLURE IN MEDITERRANEAN FRUIT-FLY (DIPTERA, TEPHRITIDAE) MASS-TRAPPING TESTS, Journal of entomological science, 29(4), 1994, pp. 543-556
Ceralure, a new potent and persistent attractant for the Mediterranean
fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), was evaluated in a new tec
hnique which serves as an alternative to aerial application of male an
nihilation bait-sprays for eradication. Residual ceralure and trimedlu
re contents, release rates, and medfly captures using panels coated wi
th ceralure and trimedlure in stickem were evaluated for effective att
raction of male medflies. The lure/stickem coated panels may be more e
ffective than the Jackson trap baited with the ''standard'' trimedlure
plug dispenser.
