C. Bissieux et al., RADIATIVE CHARACTERIZATION OF SEMITRANSPA RENT SCATTERING MEDIA USINGA 4-FLUX MODEL, Revue générale de thermique, 33(392-93), 1994, pp. 470-479
The aim of this work is the characterization of semi-transparent scatt
ering media. Spectral and bidirectional devices, operating in the visi
ble and infrared regions, provide transmission and reflection measurem
ents. The hemispherical properties are computed by integration of BRDF
and BTDF measurements. This characterization also requires a simple r
adiative model, according to the experimental conditions, such as the
use of lasers, collimated beams or integrating spheres. Indeed, the fo
ur-flux model is enough to determine the absorption and scattering coe
fficients and to approximate the phase functions, using parametrical f
ittings. Results for spectralon, zircon ceramics and silicate fibrous
samples are presented. These media appear to have definitely anisotrop
ic phase functions.
