Ls. Benjamin et Sa. Wonderlich, SOCIAL PERCEPTIONS AND BORDERLINE PERSONALITY-DISORDER - THE RELATIONTO MOOD DISORDERS, Journal of abnormal psychology, 103(4), 1994, pp. 610-624
We used the Structural Analysis of Social Behavior (SASB) to compare t
he social perceptions of borderline, unipolar, and bipolar-depressed i
npatients. As predicted, borderline subjects differed from bipolar-dep
ressed and unipolar subjects in their social perceptions. Borderline s
ubjects viewed their relationships to their mother, hospital staff, an
d other patients as more hostile and autonomous than did mood disorder
ed subjects. The results are discussed in terms of an integrative theo
ry of borderline personality that considers the psychobiology of inter
personal relationships and attachment disruptions.
