Dynamic viscoelastic spectra, thermally stimulated current, optical ab
sorption spectra and second harmonic generation (SHG) intensity have b
een measured in poled films of PMMA doped with aniline derivatives. Th
ese experiments have indicated that the volume, axial ratio and dipole
moment of the dopant molecules, and doping level have significant inf
luences on the stability of SHG of the poled polymers. A mechanism bas
ed on free volume theory is proposed which interprets the experimental
observations satisfactorily.
