Abstract
Copper(II)-5,15-diphenylporphyrin 1 is converted to 5,15-diphenyl-7-ox obenzochlorin 3 (M = 2H) by a modified Vilsmeier formylation, BF3-cata lysed cyclization, oxidation and demetallation.
