Photoselection of elongated luminescent molecules oriented in a stretc
hed polymer film is considered theoretically for the case of two- and
three-photon excitation, having in mind the employment of this phenome
non for determining the angle between the absorption and emission tran
sition moments. Two-photon photoselection provides information on elec
tronic excited states which are not detectable by conventional one-pho
ton spectroscopy due to selection principles.
