The qualitative requirements and deficiency signs of water-soluble vit
amins were studied in tiger puffers Takifugu rubripes having mean body
weight of 2.9 g. The qualitative requirements of tiger puffer for wat
er-soluble vitamins indicate that the requirement of this species for
vitamin B6 is lower than that of other fish species such as red sea br
eam, yellowtail, and Japanese parrot fish, while that for vitamins rel
ated to lipid metabolism, such as choline, nicotinic acid, pantothenic
acid, biotin and inositol, is comparatively high.
