Abstract
The purified 95 kD penicillin-binding protein (PBP1) from Burkholderia cepacia 249-2 was confirmed to be a critical PBP by fluorography, cle avage of D-alanine from tripeptide, and the inhibition of enzyme activ ity by the beta-lactam antibiotics ceftazidime and piperacillin. The N -terminal amino acid sequence of this protein showed no homology with any bacterial proteins.
