The SU(3) statistical model for ($) over bar p(NN) annihilation was de
veloped. The intranuclear cascade model with this elementary process w
as used to estimate the total rate of two-nucleon annihilation of stop
ped antiprotons in carbon and uranium. Those characteristics of ($) ov
er bar pA annihilation that are sensitive to the contribution of two-n
ucleon mechanisms were found. The effects of heavy-meson production, F
ermi motion, and neutron halo in these characteristics were discussed.
