A smooth mercury microelectrode of disk shape and of prolonged lifetim
e can be easily obtained by deposition of an appropriate amount of Hg
on a solid silver amalgam microdisk. The solid silver amalgam disk can
be prepared by depositing, successively, small amounts of mercury on
a silver microdisk. The excess of the solid amalgam formed, which is e
xposed over the insulation plane, must be removed, so that the measure
d steady-state currents can be described by the appropriate equation f
or microdisks. This problem was neglected in the earlier papers.
