[(CH3)3CNH3]6V10O28.8H2O provides a new example of an organic-cation d
ecavanadate. This salt is monoclinic, P2(1)/c, with Z = 2 and the foll
owing unit-cell dimensions: a = 11.684(1), b = 26.367(3), c = 10.535(1
) angstrom, beta = 114.08(3)-degrees. Its atomic arrangement refined w
ith a final R value of 0.038 for a set of 7056 independent reflections
is mainly characterized by a layer organization of centrosymmetrical
[V10O28]6- anions and [(CH3)3CNH3]+ groups. The three-dimensional hydr
ogen-bond scheme is given.
