[Ga3(PO4)3F2],(CH3-NH3)2,H2O a new oxyfluorinated gallophosphate with
an open framework, named ULM-4 (University of Le Mans), has been obtai
ned by hydrothermal synthesis using methylamine as organic template. T
his new structure type can also be synthesized with ethylenediamine or
1.3 diaminopropane. The structure was solved by single crystal X-ray
diffraction. ULM-4, methylamine crystallizes in space group P2(1)/n wi
th cell parameters a = 8.672(1) angstrom, b = 10.1867(7) angstrom, c =
16.788(2) angstrom, beta = 93.12(2)-degrees, Z = 4, V = 1480.8(3) ang
strom3, R = 0.023, wR2 = 0.063 for 3621 independent reflections. The t
hree dimensional network is built up from corner linked hexameric [Ga3
(PO4)3 F2]2-units, which are composed of three PO4 terahedra, two GaO
4F trigonal bipyramids and one GaO4F2 octahedron. The polyhedral arran
gement delimits interconnected 10-membered ring tunnels along [010] in
which the organic template are located, and also 8-membered ones alon
g [100].
