Ga3(PO4)2(HPO4)(H2O)F2, (N4C6H19) is a new oxyfluorinated gallophospha
te obtained by hydrothermal synthesis with the tris (2-aminoethyl) ami
ne used as template. It is orthorhombic with Pbca space group (n-degre
e 61) and the following cell parameters a = 10.163 (2) angstrom, b = 2
1.989 (5) angstrom, c = 17.279 (3) angstrom, Z = 8, V = 3861 (2) angst
rom3. This new structure type is labelled ULM-8. ULM-8 presents a laye
red structure with the alternation along [010] of organic and inorgani
c layers. The latter sheets are built up from the corner sharing of he
xameric secondary building units (SBU) of three PO4 tetrahedra, two tr
igonal bipyramids GaO4F and one octahedron GaO4F2 all corner-linked. T
he stability of the structure is ensured by hydrogen bonds between the
H atoms of the amino groups and the anions of the mineral framework.
