A new oxyfluorinated gallophosphate GaF(PO4), 0.5(N2C4H12), labelled U
LM-9, was isolated by hydrothermal synthesis using piperazine as templ
ate. Its structure, solved by single crystal X-ray diffraction, is tri
clinic with parameters: a = 5.1125(5)angstrom b = 6.3450(6)angstrom c
= 8.981(1)angstrom alpha = 77.040(6)-degrees beta = 79.624(7)-degrees
gamma = 89.711(5)-degrees, V = 279.08(5)angstrom3, Z = 2. ULM-9 is a l
ayered compound constituted of inorganic layers of corner-shared PO4 t
etrahedra and GaO4F trigonal bipyramids between them are inserted the
piperazinium ions. This structure is closely related to VO(PO4), 0.5 p
iperazine. The substitution of the vanadyl bond (V=O)2+ by a (M(III)-F
)2+ linkage is discussed.
