Abstract
Proton magnetic relaxation rates of the systems CD3OH/XY/CCl4 (XY = Li Cl, HCl, N(CD3)4Cl) and the self diffudsion coefficient of MeOH as a f unction of the methanol/CCl4 composition have been measured. With decr easing amount of MeOH there is a strong increase of the A-parameter (a ssociation parameter) which is an indicator of CD3OH-HOCD3 association . The increase of A becomes stronger when LiCl or HCl is added to the mixture which shows that now H-bonding and ion-solvatation effect coup le the OH groups together. The effect is absent when N(CD3)4Cl is adde d to the binary mixture.
