The crystal structure of trimethylsulfonium oxalatotriphenylstannate,
C23H24O4SSn, synthesized from the metathetical reaction of trimethylsu
lfonium iodide, silver oxalate and triphenyltin chloride in methanol,
consists of [(CH3)3S]+ ions interspersed among the linear [(C6H5)3SnO2
CCO2]n(n-) chains that are constructed from [O2CCO2]2- dianions bonded
axially to planar [(C6H5)3Sn]+ (Sn - O = 2.220(3) angstrom, SIGMA C -
Sn - C = 360.0(4)-degrees) cations.
