Abstract
A numerical model has been developed for the 2D simulation of free sur face flows or, more generally speaking, moving interface ones. The bul k fluids on both sides of the interface are taken into account in simu lating the incompressible laminar flow state. In the case of heat tran sfer the whole system, i.e. walls as well as possible obstacles, is co nsidered. This model is based on finite element analysis with an Euler ian approach and an unstructured fixed mesh. A special technique to lo calize the interface allows its temporal evolution through this mesh. Several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the capabiliti es of the model.
