Nj. Moser et al., MANAGEMENT OF POSTPNEUMONECTOMY SYNDROME WITH A BRONCHOSCOPICALLY PLACED ENDOBRONCHIAL STENT, Southern medical journal, 87(11), 1994, pp. 1156-1159
Postpneumonectomy syndrome is a rare complication of right pneumonecto
my characterized by marked shift and counterclockwise rotation of the
heart and mediastinum into the evacuated hemithorax. Typically the lef
t primary bronchus is draped over the aorta or spine and is markedly c
ompressed. We describe one patient with postpneumonectomy syndrome suc
cessfully managed nonsurgically with a bronchoscopically placed Silast
ic endobronchial stent.
