Whereas ClSi(HNCH2CH2)(3)N (1) reacts with LiC6F5 in the expected mann
er to give C6F5Si(HNCH2CH2)(3)N (3), ClSi(MeNCH(2)CH(2))(3)N (2) gives
a mixture of C6F5Si(MeNCH(2)CH(2))(3)N (4), the fluoride-transfer pro
duct FSi(MeNCH(2)CH(2))(3)N (5), and the benzyne insertion. product C6
F5Si(o-C(6)F(4)NMeCH(2)CH(2))(MeNCH(2)CH(2))(2)N (6) in, the approxima
te ratio of 1:2:1, respectively. The structures of 5 and 6, determined
by X-ray means, are presented.
