tRNA from rat liver has been fractionated by h.p.l.c. using a gradient
of acetonitrile/ammonium acetate. Peak assignment and relative concen
trations of iso-tRNAs for phenylalanine, glutamic acid, glutamine and
threonine have been established. The relative concentrations of these
tRNA species, expressed as area peak percentages, have been found to c
orrespond well with codon usage for human proteins. The data confirm t
he reliability of this technique as simple method for fractionating co
ntemporaneously a variety of tRNAs on analytical scale.
