Abstract
Phellinus torulosus was reported for the first time on Cupressus sempe rvirens in Tuscany, Italy. This fungus causes white rot in roots and s tems and may also invade and kill the cortical tissue. The invasion of trees by the fungus and its subsequent spread is probably facilitated by fire scars.
