PERFORMANCE OF NEW HEVEA CLONES OF IAC SE RIES .2. POTENTIAL SELECTIONS FOR THE UPLAND OF SAO-PAULO, BRAZIL

The present paper shows the performance of 16 rubber tree clones [Heve a brasiliensis (Willd. ex. Adr. de Juss.) Muell. Arg.], most of them I AC serial, originated from selections conducted within different full- sib progenies. After cloned the evaluation was conducted in small scal e trial under a randomized complete block design stabilished at Jau, S P, Experimental Station. Yield expressed in dry rubber, stem girth, ba rk thickness and pannel anthracnose were evaluated. The clones IAN 873 , IAC 41, and IAC 35 were classified as high yielding over the first f our years of tapping. They produced 63%, 39% and 27% higher compared w ith the RRIM 600. Based on their performance their planting in small s cale is recommended in the area where they were tested. In addition, t heir evaluation in large scale trial in different regions of the Sao P aulo State is suggested. The use of the clones IAC 59, IAC 105, PB 86, RRIM 600 as sources of pannel anthracnose resistance in breeding prog ramme is also suggested.
