COMMENTS ON ON ASYMMETRICAL PERFORMANCE OF DISCRETE COSINE TRANSFORM

In this communication, we first show that the gain of transform coding over PCM, the criterion for performance evaluation of a transform use d in the above paper, is equivalent to the maximal-reducible-bit crite rion defined by one author. Then we present a much simpler method to j udge the symmetric or asymmetric performance of any discrete transform .
