Abstract
The influence of the probe beam size and shape on the photothermal ref lectance signal is discussed. An analytical formula for the case of Ga ussian power distribution is derived. The potentials of the phototherm al microscope for local investigation of thermal parameters of solids and solid structures are outlined using computer simulation.
