Abstract
No quantitative spectrum of optical penetration in graphite-epoxy has been so far reported. Transmission and reflection techniques are ineff icient or do not give absolute values. We used three methods to comput e the absolute optical penetration spectrum from the photoacoustic sig nal obtained from a graphite-epoxy composite sample. The spectra obtai ned in the infrared band of 2.5 to 25 mu m are presented. The experime ntal results are also compared to those of a theoretical model.
