Abstract
The selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides by hydrogen peroxide under methyltrioxorhenium(VII) catlysis was examined; a high selectiv ity of sulfoxide over sulfone was achieved, except in the presence of water, which enhanced sulfone formation.
