The effect of key design parameters and operation factors on the outpu
t of a turbocyclone with two-way axial discharge of separation product
s and on that of a counterflow cylindrical hydrocyclone was studied ex
perimentally. A general procedure for hydrocyclone apparatus design is
proposed, which determines the inlet pressure of a hydro- or turbocyc
lone necessary for a given throughput to be achieved.
