Multiunit activity in the motor cortex of cats was analysed during foo
d-procuring conditioning to time (2-minute interval). Comparison of be
havioural and neurophysiological correlates at the initial stage of co
nditioning showed that it was accompanied by very complicated system t
ransformations which were different for neuronal micro- and macrostruc
tures. Systemic processes in the micro- and macroareas were distinguis
hed by a specificity of space distribution, quantity, strength, and st
ability of manifestations of functional connections. Capability of neu
rons for functional orientation, increase of percentage of incidence o
f functional connections in the second half of the conditioned interva
l, considerable destabilization of all neuronal associations at the la
st and highest stage of conditioning were the common features for micr
o- and macroareas during formation of the food-procuring conditioned r
esponse.
