Abstract
The exact wave functions for a strictly parabolic quantum wire with ap plied electric fields are given. Considering the anharmonic perturbing potential we derive in this paper the analytical expressions for nonl inear polarization using the density matrix formalism. We discuss the nonlinear optical effects of different orders in detail and also give a numerical illustration.
