Sedimentary units deposited in shallow marine or coastal environments
are analysed by a new method applied in the Jaca basin (Eocene, Spanis
h Pyrenees). Variations in accommodation are estimated based on sedime
nt thicknesses and paleobathymetries which are defined by a facies ana
lysis. These variations are studied by polynomial and sinusoidal regre
ssions to distinguish between the regional eustatic effect and the sub
sidence which Varies locally.
