Covulcanized blends of EVA (28% VA) and EPDM (ENB) were prepared in di
fferent proportion. The technical compatibility is achieved through co
vulcanization of two polymers. Physico-mechanical, dynamic mechanical(
DMA), thermal (DSC), electrical resistivity and morphological studies
of these blends were made. Dynamic mechanical analysis show a single b
road Gamma-transition temperature for each blend indicating partial mi
scibility between the components in amorphous region. Morphological st
udies show the presence of co-continuous structure in the blend at 50:
50 composition. Electrical resistivity of the blends can be correlated
with morphology. The systems show tendency of post curing as observed
from high temperature DMA study. Mechanical properties like tensile s
trength increases with EVA content, whereas elongation at break decrea
ses with EVA concentration up to 50 wt.%, and then attains plateau.
