The design and development of a simple capacitive and resistive divide
r along with attenuators are described for fast high-voltage measureme
nt, These probes are very simple and show sub-nanosecond time response
s. These can be used as developmental or monitoring diagnostics for fa
st high-voltage pulser circuits. Our study also indicates that even si
mple grooved carbon film resistances can be used to fabricate sub-nano
second-response-time attenuators useful for measurement of fast pulses
up to about 5 kV amplitude.
