Abstract
A range of new R-matrix programs for describing electron and photon co llisions with atoms and atomic ions are near completion. These incorpo rate improved algorithms and are expected to extend significantly both the range and accuracy of calculations in this area. We present an ov erview of the techniques adopted in these packages and also describe i nitial efforts to adapt R-matrix procedures for use on MIMD parallel c omputers.
