Abstract
The curved surface equation of a combined parabolical cylinder roof is established by means of the step function and an inclined coordinate system. The calculating formulas for linear and nonlinear analysis of a combined parabolical cylinder roof are derived by utilizing the line ar and nonlinear theory of shallow shells and Navier's method. Finally , an illustrative example of the combined parabolical cylinder roof is given and compared with the spherical shell roof and the four-pitch s quare roof.
