Abstract
The vector analyzing power A(y) for the reaction H-1(n(-->), gamma)H-2 has been measured at five angles between 60 degrees and 140 degrees i n the lab at an incident neutron energy of 67.7 MeV. The measurement i s of a precision never before achieved (Delta A(y) less than or equal to 0.01, statistical) for this observable. This precision makes possib le a quantitative comparison with meson-exchange theories, thus enhanc ing our understanding of the role of non-nucleonic degrees of freedom.
