S. Thambidurai et al., SELECTIVE CYANATION BROMINATION OF COORDINATED BETA-DIKETONES USING CNBR AS A NEW REAGENT/, Polyhedron, 13(20), 1994, pp. 2825-2829
Cyanogen bromide was used as a new twin purpose reagent for brominatio
n or cyanation of beta-diketonates of many transition and some non-tra
nsition metals. Whereas inert and less labile chelates of Cr-III, Co-I
II, Al-III and Be-II yielded gamma-brominated reaction products, the l
abile ones of Co-II, Ni-II, Mg-II and Cu-II gave gamma-cyanated diketo
nates. VOIV and Fe-III chelates yielded gamma-bromo products in methan
ol and gamma-cyano products in chloroform. The reagent is the first cy
anating agent for beta-diketonates. CNI was also used as a new reagent
for beta-diketonates and the reactions were compared with those of CN
Br.
